The Grand Hotel International Prague, included in the list of Czech cultural monuments, is located in a quiet residential area in Prague 6. The centre of Prague is only two kilometres away, and Prague Castle makes for a pleasant walk. Václav Havel Airport is just a 20-minute drive away. There is a bus and tram stop in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, and the Dejvická metro station is 5 minutes from the hotel.
The Hotel was built between 1952 and 1956 in the style of socialist realism, or “Sorela”, as this architectural style is sometimes called for short. The building was originally supposed to be used only for the accommodation of soldiers, but in the end the plan was changed, and the building became a hotel. Originally, part of the building was also used as an anti-nuclear shelter in which 600 people could survive for 14 days. Now, it is now used as a warehouse. In the 1950s it was the most luxurious hotel in Czechoslovakia.
Interior contains unique decoration from the 1950s. Leading Czech and Slovak artists and craftsmen were involved in this creativity. The decorative elements and lighting will pleasantly surprise you with its quality, and we can say without exaggeration that it is timeless.
The hotel offers a total of 278 fully air-conditioned rooms in the categories Standard, Triple, Executive and Tower suites.
The hotel has a private paid parking lot with a limited number of parking spaces. Parking spaces cannot be reserved in advance.
Excellent plentiful breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served in the hotel’s Symphonia Restaurant & Garden, which in warm weather offers a pleasant dining environment and summer BBQs in the hotel’s extensive private garden.
